gh pr view

Read a pull request: description, status and reviews

What it does

gh pr view shows the title, the author, the status, the description and the review outcome. Name the PR by number, URL or branch; with no argument it takes the current branch's PR.

--comments adds the conversation, and --web opens the PR in the browser, where a large diff is easier to read and line comments easier to leave.

Syntax

gh pr view <number>
gh pr view --comments
gh pr view --web

Examples

• Read pull request 42: description, status and reviews

  gh pr view 42

  • pr view — show a pull request
  • 42 — the number; without it, the current branch's PR

• Open the current branch's pull request in the browser

  gh pr view --web

  same as: gh pr view -w

  • pr view — show the current branch's pull request
  • --web — in the browser, not the terminal
